Tattoo Healing

There are many different methods of healing tattoos.  If you have good experience with another method that you have previously used feel free to use it again.  These are our guidelines that have worked well for us in the past.

  1. We will put A&D on your tattoo and bandage it before you leave the studio.  We will send you home with A&D so you do not need to buy it.

  2. Leave your bandage on for 2-4 hours(no peeling it back so friends can see).  Please wait to take it off until you return to your home space.   If you need to wait longer  than 4 hours or sleep with it on then soak the bandage off as it may stick.

  3. Wash your hands before removing your bandage.  Then wash your tattoo off with a mild soap (dial, dove, etc) and water.  Making sure to remove all blood and debris.

  4. Rinse with cold water.

  5. Allow your tattoo to air dry thoroughly (30 mins or more).

  6. Put a small amount of A&D on your tattoo and rub it in thoroughly.  DO NOT use gobs of A&D or leave it sitting on the surface.  Less is more.

  7. Apply A&D to your tattoo 2-3 times a day for up to 3 Days.

  8. Switch to a fragrance free lotion such as Lubriderm on day 2 or 3.  Apply a small amount of lotion to your tattoo 2-3 times a day for the next 10-14 days.  Make sure to rub it in thoroughly.

  9. No soaking your tattoo in pools, lakes, hot tubs or bath tubs for 2 weeks.  But please take a shower and keep it clean.

  10. If you feel your tattoo has gotten dirty, wash it off immediately. Use caution if you frequent the gym, as this can expose your unhealed tattoo to unwanted bacteria.

  11. After your tattoo has healed (about 2 weeks) wear sunscreen.  This will help slow the aging process.  The better you treat your skin the nicer your tattoo will look.
